What does CTS stand for?
CTS stands for Called To Serve. Most of the demand we get arises from potential LDS Missionary couples seeking a watchful eye on their home while they are “called to serve” a mission. We also serve ‘snowbirds’ that relocate during the winter / summer months, vacation goers, or anyone that needs a home watched while away.
How did CTS Home Watch get started?
In a nutshell, CTS Home Watch started when Oscar and Nora Ratto decided to serve a Senior Missionary Couple mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. To read our whole story visit the ABOUT CTS Home Watch page.
What do you do?
CTS Home Watch has one goal, to provide you, the homeowner, with peace of mind while you are away from your home. We understand there are several reasons why you may have to leave your home temporarily. We strive to help you make that decision simple. We will check on your home and look for standard problems that may arise in home ownership. This includes but is not limited to, leaks, broken appliances, pests, burglaries, weather, vandalism and even potential damage from neighbors. We can turn lights on or off intermittently or set timers to help the home appear occupied. We will meet other contractors and service providers upon your request for a nominal fee.

Could our neighbors watch our house?
Neighbors mean well but often miss things. Neighbors also have their own priorities and take
vacations, which could affect how often or well they check your house. We care for your home as we do our own. We use a detailed inspection protocol not just a walk through.
Are you part of LDS Missionary Services?
All four owners of CTS Home Watch are members of the LDS faith. However, CTS Home Watch is not directly affiliated with the LDS Church, we are here to offer long term home sitting to potential senior missionaries and anyone needing Utah home watch services.
What inspired Called to Serve Home Watch?
Oscar and Nora Ratto were inspired to heed the words of President Thomas S. Monson’s direction when he stated, “We need many, many more senior couples. … Make yourselves available to leave home and give full-time missionary service. There are few times in your lives when you will enjoy the sweet spirit and satisfaction that come from giving full-time service together in the work of the Master.”

Do you offer live-in house sitting services?
No. In order to maintain the highest level of service we want to make sure we disturb your home as minimally as possible.
Who will be checking my home?
Tomas Ratto will always be your primary point of contact. However, there are four owners of Called To Serve (CTS) Home Watch. We are all collectively assigned to all areas we provide service to. We are all personally and professionally vested in the business and therefore care about the service we provide. We do not have employees outside of ourselves at this time, so the people checking your home are the owners of the business! We never go on vacation at the same time, so there is always a business owner here to take care of our clients and their needs.
How much do you charge?

Do you serve areas other than Salt Lake City?
We serve the complete Wasatch Front. From Ogden to Bountiful, Salt Lake City to Provo & Park City to Tooele. We also have plans to expand our Home Watching service to St. George and its surrounding areas. The specific Utah counties we serve are listed on our Homepage.
Are you a property management service?
No. We cannot assist in obtaining renters or manage your home as a rental. We cannot collect rent or other any other money in regards to renting your home.
Can you help us if something breaks or needs maintenance while we are gone?
Yes, we can recommend contractors for landscaping maintenance, irrigation system repair, furniture deliveries, painting, repairs, house cleaning, and more.
Will you provide lawn care, cleaning, or pest control services for my home?
We are not professionals in this area and will assist in monitoring these services for you as part of our house watch service. We will find a company to perform these tasks (at your approval) and handle their service while you are away from your home upon request. We will let you know if your home appears to need one of these services. There are other circumstances where we can help with some lawn maintenance and other maintenance issues, we will take every instance separately and give you a straight answer as to the limits of the service we will provide. Will you contact us during our absence?
We email you a report after every visit. These can be used as documentation with your insurance company. We send pictures of anything needing attention and call if necessary.
How will I know you have visited my home?
We will send a report by email to you that we have performed your service and let you know the current state of your home. We can tailor our service to meet your needs, we understand how important your home is to you.
What forms of payment do you take?
We take personal checks (from a U.S. bank), Cash and on line payments through PayPal or Venmo, with your Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, eCheck, bank transfer, or PayPal account. You do NOT need a PayPal account in order to make an online payment with us. We cannot take credit cards via phone or email at this time, we can only accept them through PayPal services.
